Barge / Honfleur / Normandy Adventure
In The Footsteps of Monet
with Susan Blackwood
|
 |
 |
| Can you imagine anything more exciting than floating
down the Seine river in France on a luxurious barge surrounded by
the sights of abundant gardens, farm animals, medieval villages,
and one beautiful chateau after another! Come join Susan Blackwood
and Sunny Reeves on this exciting Barge trip / Honfleur visit. We
will travel on the Anacoluthe Barge which is the perfect barge for
our group. |
| The Anacoluthe combines the comforts of a mini ocean liner with
the charm of a river steamer. The interior provides ample space
to paint, read, or relax in traditional surroundings of seasoned
wood and elegant furnishings. Large windows give all around views
of the passing scenery. Each cabin has full private bath facilities.
A large top deck outside terrace furnished with tables and lounge
chairs has plenty of room to paint or exercise on the exercise equipment.
The piano bar and outdoor Jacuzzi complete the charm of the Anacoluthe. |
 |
| Many of you have already enjoyed this barge so are familiar with
the comforts on board. A word about the meals - Awesome! Breakfast
is a buffet with everything you could possibly desire. Lunches are
a delight. Dinners- four star. It is difficult not to gain weight
during the trip but Susan, Staff and I will try to keep you moving
during the day to work off any pounds gained the previous day. Susan
is full of great ideas for painting while you are on the barge.
We will have a full time guide at each site plus time to paint or
sketch after the tour. |
 |
When we visit Rouen you will be awed by the cathedral
which caught the attention of Monet in his cathedral series. The
town itself is a treasure. We will be docked in the town of Rouen
giving you plenty of time to see the sites on your own after our
tour and time to paint. Also included in the Barge trip is a visit
to the Normandy beaches and the American cemetery, the Bayeau Tapestry,
Monet‚s home, studio and garden at Giverny, Maison Fournier
where The Boating Party was painted , an evening cruise through
illuminated Paris, and a visit to Founbtainbleau. |
 |
 |
At the conclusion of the barge trip we will go by
coach to the charming seaport town of Honfleur located in the heart
of Normandy. In Honfleur we will stay at a fifteenth century hotel
which has been modernized to included full baths in each room, satellite
tv, internet connection. We will spend the next three days painting
the pleasure boat harbor, the fishing harbor, the gorgeous gardens
and the half timbered Norman homes. |
 |
Painters of every level are welcome to join the group. Susan will
give a lesson each day. Her knowledge and enthusiasm leaves everyone
comfortable and ready for any challenge. Non- painters are welcome
to join the group and will enjoy all of the tours and sites as well
as time to do some extra shopping, museum and garden visits. In
Honfleur one can take boat excursions, visit a fabulous butterfly
garden, visit wonderful shops along the water, and play tennis,
golf, or hike.
The trip will end in Paris where it began at the Regina Hotel. |
